Why is this Active Enrollment? It’s your health insurance, and you should get to choose what’s best for you and your family. Playing an active role in your selections means a better experience and better coverage for your needs. Plus, being able to select the plan that best works for you also helps you to minimize your costs.

Why is there a cost? Grede covers 96% of all employees’ health insurance, including additional family members. This is significantly more coverage and a lower cost to employees and their families than the national and industry averages, and we do this because we understand how important healthcare is for families, more now than ever. We’re always looking to improve healthcare coverage and benefits, and sharing this small portion of the cost allows us to provide more comprehensive coverage for you, your spouses, and your dependents, regardless of location.

Why are there new dental plans? We understand that not everyone needs more than the standard six-month visit to the dentist, so we created a lower cost plan that allows for just that and basic dental costs. However, we also know that some employees, especially those with children, may need more comprehensive care for things like orthodontics, so a plan is also available at a minimal cost for those who need it. You have the opportunity to review both plans and choose what is best for you as part of open enrollment. For more information on how dental insurance works, you can view this short video.

Why contribute to an HSA or FSA? A health savings account (HSA) or a flexible spending account (FSA) allows you to put money toward medical expenses you know you’ll incur, such as co-pays, prescriptions, and other anticipated visits, before tax. This means you actually have more money to put towards those medical expenses than you would if you paid for them straight out-of-pocket after tax. While specific guidelines differ slightly between an HSA and FSA, contributing to either that’s available to you also helps you have “money in the bank” for when unexpected medical costs do occur. You can learn more about HSA here and more about FSA here. For more information on the differences, view this short video.

Why should I complete Vitality health challenges? You try to make good choices in nutrition, fitness, and daily life for you and your family’s physical and mental health, and we think you deserve to be rewarded for those good choices and for achieving your goals. We also want to encourage you to continue making those choices and setting new goals for your wellbeing. The Vitality program allows you to set, track, and achieve goals and participate in challenges to improve your overall health, and Grede provides financial incentives and awards to help you hit milestones and achieve those goals.
